BFSA Black Excellence

The Black Excellence Awards will highlight the work and the efforts of one student, staff/administration member or faculty member per fall and spring semester. The goal is to feature the work that our Black UCF Community is doing day to day. So that you enhance your network on campus

Students:

The Black Excellence Award for UCF students is awarded to the student who is a well rounded student and leader on UCF’s campus. This student has to at least be of Sophomore standing or in graduate school, with a minimum GPA of 2.7. They should also be actively involved in a UCF Organization (Black Student Union, Student Organization, SGA, Mentoring program, etc.). Preference will be given to students who 1) have been recognized by their academic/service discipline area by an award/honor, or 2) have received recognition of their research at a national or local conference.

Staff

The Black Excellence Award for UCF Staff Members is awarded to the staff or administrative person who has significantly advance their department/office in a direction that benefits the university; office, or the student population. Preference will be given to members who 1) have graduated with a graduate degree that advance their career or could advance their department’s mission, or 2) has presented their research or advancements at a local/national conference.

The nominee must be a paid BFSA Member.

Faculty

The Black Excellence Award for UCF Faculty Members is awarded to the faculty member who has been selected for a new position in administration that advances the University’s mission, their department/college’s mission, or the student population, has been promoted to full Professorship, or has been highlighted by UCF or an external organization for their teaching or research efforts. Faculty can also be recognized for receiving research funding or presenting a keynote speech locally, nationally or internationally. The faculty member could be at any level (adjunct, lecturer, instructor, tenure-earning or tenured).

The nominee must be a paid BFSA Member.
