Joseph C. Andrews Celebration

The Joseph C. Andrews Annual Celebration is a signature event that embodies the spirit of mentorship, community, and excellence at the University of Central Florida. This program serves as a heartfelt recognition of the transformative impact that faculty, staff, and students have in shaping the university’s vibrant culture. Through honoring outstanding individuals who exemplify dedication and leadership, and awarding scholarships to deserving students, the celebration underscores the enduring power of mentorship and the collective effort to build a supportive and inspiring academic community.

About Joseph C. Andrews

BFSA chose to name its annual mentorship celebration in honor of Joseph C. Andrews, the former head of the university’s library collections management, in 2015. Andrews, a graduate of North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC, was known for assisting a “never-ending line of UCF students” regardless of their race, ethnicity or backgrounds, according to UCF archives. Andrews delighted himself in purchasing tables at the university’s mentorship breakfast just for his student mentees. Andrews died in 2002 at age 62 having spent 12 years with UCF. His life embodied the spirit of this mentoring celebration.

Event is currently SOLD OUT.

Thanks to our amazing sponsors, supporters, and friends this event is currently at capacity. We look forward to seeing all of our guest at this year’s celebration!

32nd Annual Joseph C. Andrews Celebration

The Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA) cordially invites you to attend the 32nd Annual Joseph C. Andrews Mentoring Celebration on Tuesday, February 10th, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. in the Student Union, Pegasus Ballroom.

Join us in celebrating the transformative power of mentorship and recognizing the invaluable contributions of UCF’s faculty, staff, and students, whose efforts create a lasting impact within our community. This recognition program highlights the strength of our shared commitment to fostering connection and growth. This year’s theme is: The Legacy We Leave, The Leaders We Shape, rooted in the Maya Angelou quote: When you learn, teach. When you get, give. This theme reminds that mentorship transforms personal achievement into lasting legacy. And affirms that leadership is not defined by how far we go alone, but by how intentionally we invest in others. Through mentorship, opportunity becomes shared, legacy is cultivated, and leaders are shaped.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Albert Mosley, President of Bethune-Cookman University, for a candid conversation about his journey, leadership legacy, and commitment to shaping the next generation of leaders. With more than 30 years of experience across higher education and the nonprofit sector, Dr. Mosley currently serves as the 8th president of the historic institution. Previously, he was president of Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa, where he launched innovative academic programs in aviation, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, while also securing record-setting transformational gifts that strengthened the endowment and advanced major capital projects.

In addition to his work in higher education, Dr. Mosley spent nearly five years as Senior Vice President and Chief Mission Integration Officer for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis, Tennessee. His career has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Duke University William J. Griffith University Service Award, a special citation for Excellence in Community Leadership from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and the Richard Hernandez Religious Leadership Award from the Northwest Interfaith Movement. Known for his entrepreneurial spirit, administrative expertise, and ability to lead through periods of significant change, Dr. Mosley looks ahead with vision and purpose as he ushers in a new era of growth and achievement at Bethune-Cookman University.
